Information on the cultivation of Gyrinops versteegii remains limited compared to the cultivation of Aquilaria spp., such as Aquilaria malaccensis, which has rapidly developed in Sumatra and Kalimantan. This study aims to examine the environmental characteristics of G. versteegii agarwood cultivation on Lombok Island, one of the species' natural distribution areas, and to understand how its cultivation products are utilized by the local community. Quantitative methods were conducted through sampling, while qualitative methods were carried out using rapid assessment. The findings show that agarwood cultivation is spread across four districts on Lombok Island, with the highest concentration and largest area located in West Lombok Regency, using both monoculture and mixed cropping systems. The cultivation sites demonstrate environmental conditions that align with the natural habitat preferences of G. versteegii. Communities in Lombok Island gain direct economic benefits from agarwood cultivation, which serves as a primary source of livelihood for some farmers. The main product derived is gubal gaharu of the kemedangan grade. In addition, local communities also produce black magic wood (BMW), which is agarwood processed through an oil impregnation technique to enhance its market value for both local and export markets. These products not only increase farmers’ incomes but also support the sustainability of local natural resource-based economies.Referensi
